RANDWICK
NIC ASHMAN (Daily Telegraph). Form: 56722
VOILIER
Race 4, No. 2
Was fat first-up and might still be another run or so away from hitting his straps but he’ll improve a stack into this and I can’t help but think his current price is based on his most recent run, which is probably unfair when assessing his chances here.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8.50
STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph). Form: 13113
CHASTENED
Race 8, No. 5
This Tony McEvoy-prepared mare ran on OK when fourth at this track in June, then hit the line well for hd second at Warwick Farm on July 22. Steps up to 1800m here which should suit her down to the ground.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.80
JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 15375
MAEVEMOO
Race 8, No. 6
Came from a mile back at Canterbury to finish on the placegetters heels, which gave the impression she will take no end of stopping, over a more suitable distance range here.
TAB Fixed Odds: $10
SHAYNE O’CASS (The Sportsman). Form: 9202
MONTRER DAME
Race 8, No. 13
The Paul Perry-trained daughter of High Chaparral is capable of surprising at big odds. She is fairly lightly raced with 12 starts under the belt for a win and four placings, one here. She should just about have won at her only other visit to Randwick, on Melbourne Cup day last year. If she’s $20 or more, she’s definitely worth a look.
TAB Fixed Odds: $23
DARREN PRENDERGAST (Superracing). Form: 4409x
TEMPLE OF BOOM
Race 6, No. 3
Veteran sprinter caught the eye with a strong barrier win at Randwick last month. Has a great first-up record and will be thereabouts.
TAB Fixed Odds: $5.50
FLEMINGTON
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun). Form: 31134
ABASSO
Race 4, No. 6
Getting better with every start. Surged home to win in good style here last start. $3.30 looks nice value.
TAB Fixed Odds: $3.30
DARYL TIMMS (Herald Sun). Form: 026x2
PRIZUM
Race 5, No. 3
Nearly old enough to vote and doesn’t win out of turn but does like Flemington and past three, all at headquarters, have been good.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8
NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 44811
KLISHINA
Race 8, No. 3
Banging on the door of a win after three close-up efforts since resuming, drawn well and has won four times from 12 attempts over 1000 metres.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.60
DOOMBEN
NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 4454x
BENTLES
Race 1, No. 10
Steps to 1600m for the first time, but he’s by a Group 1-winning miler from a mare by a Group 1-winning miler, so can’t see why it won’t suit. Ran big splits 600-200 winning by a space at Ipswich and finds very winnable race for his first Saturday city assignment.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8
BRAD DAVIDSON (Gold Coast Bulletin). Form: 67487
TOTAL AUTHORITY
Race 3, No. 7
Sat three wide with no cover last start and should get much better run in transit this weekend. Relampago (Race 4, No.6) also looks over the odds at $7.
TAB Fixed Odds: $15
MORPHETTVILLE
LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 60422
MANNA TRUST
Race 3, No. 3
Solid in the market and was OK behind topweight Tidy Prophet at Mildura last time out, but previous win on a soft Donald track was good for this. Gets in well at the weights.
TAB Fixed Odds: $5.50
BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser). Form: 44371
SCHEROSO
Race 6, No. 12
This gelding is ready to deliver after a couple of solid runs back from a spell. Top trainer Tony McEvoy has nominated him for the Caulfield Cup, so he obviously shows enough. Also has the benefit of white-hot jockey Jason Holder and looks excellent each-way value.
TAB Fixed Odds: $5.50
