SuperCoach 2025: Al Paton’s top 20 cash cows

Cash cows make the money to power your SuperCoach side. Here are the players you can take to the bank in 2025.

SuperCoach AFL: Mills, Butters injured, AFL captains' breakout picks, and strategy Q&A!

Cash is king in SuperCoach.

The key to winning your league and rising up the overall rankings is to fill your team with as many top-liners as possible.

You can only pick so many to start with under the $10 million salary cap, but there is a ticket to more – cash cows.

The most important players in SuperCoach, cash cows start the season at a bargain price and rise in value by scoring well above their price point. When they have fattened up you can take them to market and cash them in for more A-grade talent, then fly home in the back half of the season with a team of 22 superstars. That’s how it’s supposed to work, anyway.

So, who will make the most cash in 2025?

Price changes in SuperCoach are based on a player’s three-week rolling average, and the higher a player is priced at, the more points they need to score to make money.

Some examples from 2024 help explain how it works.

A cheap-as-chips rookie like Sam Clohesy was a golden ticket. Priced at just $102k, he scored 108 and 124 in first two games and jumped in value by an insane $114,000 at his first price change. After seven matches he had increased in value by over $220,000.

Unfortunately, players like that don’t come along very often. Demon Blake Howes is a more typical case. Starting the year at $123k, he averaged 61 to round 9 for a profit of $170k. Big tick!

James Jordon scored better than Howes, but cost $275k in round 1. He averaged 77 in the same period and made a $110k profit – still very healthy, with the benefit of delivering solid scores on field each week.

Those maths have influenced my rankings below, along with consideration of where each player is available. There aren't many bottom-priced defenders around this year, so anyone who might get a game is a player we have to look at.

I’m looking for the best cash generators in 2025. You can find more mid-pricers here and full profiles of all this year’s best cheapies in the Rookie Bible.
