Former South Africa coach Jake White will be sounded out as a possible contender to replace under fire Wallabies boss Michael Cheika, according to reports.

Rugby Australia have come under increased pressure to ditch Cheika, whose side have won just four of their 13 Tests this year and last week suffered a record sixth consecutive loss to England to conclude their uninspiring European tour.

The RA board is reportedly meeting on December 10 to review the side’s performances with the 2019 World Cup in Japan fast approaching.

But RA chief executive Raelene Castle and fellow board members will speak to World Cup-winning former Springboks and Brumbies coach White via a phone hook up on Thursday to test the waters should they opt to sack Cheika, according to The Courier Mail .

White, who is in Japan coaching Toyota Verblitz, is said to be open to coaching the Wallabies but not on an interim basis.
