AMID all the drama at Queensland comes one of the best rumours of the year: Brad Thorn returning to Australia to play for the Reds in 2016.

The talk sweeping rugby circles is that Thorn will return to the city where he began his astonishing sporting career 20 years ago, with a player/coaching role being prepared for the dual-code legend.

Thorn, who represented the Brisbane Broncos, Queensland and Australia in league before switching to union and winning the World Cup with the All Blacks, is playing for English club Leicester and still impressing on the field despite being 40.

Thorn has always said throughout his career that he would love to settle back in Brisbane one day, and the opportunity to develop as a coach at the Reds would give him stability to do so.

Thorn has won trophies just about everywhere he’s gone so his presence would be invaluable to any club.
