Mia Khalifa landed a gig writing about football — and is doing a good job

MIA Khalifa recently landed a writing gig — and picked up a spooky moment from Monday’s Packers-Vikings game.

MIA Khalifa has always been passionate about football — particularly her favourite college team the Florida State Seminoles.

But to this point in the 23-year-old Lebanese-American adult film actress’s life her involvement in the sport was limited to cheering for her team — and shaming athletes who tried to pick her up on Twitter.

Recently her talents have been put to better use. The knowledgeable NFL observer landed a writing gig with US website fansided.com, where she produces a sixpack of observations from the weekend of American football. And it’s actually pretty good.

This week’s column included a pretty amazing fact from the Minnesota Vikings-Green Bay Packers game on Monday (AEST).

The game was the Vikings’ debut outing at their newly-built $1.1 billion stadium and given it was also their first home game since the death of one of the most famous people to come from Minnesota, singer-songwriter Prince, a tribute was organised during the halftime show.

But even the moving rendition of the Prince classic Purple Rain (which fits perfectly with the Vikings’ purple uniforms) was upstaged by what happened in the first half.

We’ll let Mia explain.

“The late, great Prince was given a pair of beautiful, emotional homages — one intentional, and the other … let’s just say the universe works in strange ways,” she wrote.

“The intentional hat-tip was, of course, the stirring halftime show, which included an emotional rendition of Purple Rain that didn’t leave a dry eye in the house.

“Before that, though, was the first touchdown pass ever thrown in the Vikings’ new stadium — a moment that felt more like divine intervention than some silly coincidence — when Aaron Rodgers found Jordy Nelson for a 1-yard strike.

“Rodgers to Nelson. Prince Rogers Nelson.

“Bananas.

“Leave it to Prince to show up and make things wilder and weirder than how he found them. Like he always did.”

If you’re not a Prince fan, his full name is Prince Rogers Nelson. Spooky stuff. Nice spot, Mia, and keep up the good work.
