A professional horse rider has died after suffering a horror fall during an equestrian event.

Georgie Campbell, 36, had been competing at a competition in Devon in the UK on Sunday when she got into trouble with her horse Global Quest, The Sun reports.

Medics immediately attended to the former top-level show rider, but sadly she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The talented athlete represented Great Britain and was a six-time winner.

Georgie’s horse was also assessed and is uninjured following the tragedy at The Bicton International Horse Trials.

Governing body British Eventing said in a statement: “It is with deepest regret that we announce that Georgie Campbell (GBR) suffered a fatal accident whilst competing at the Bicton International Horse Trials in Devon, England, on Sunday.

“Medical professionals attended immediately following her fall at fence 5b, however, unfortunately, she could not be saved.

“The horse, Global Quest, was assessed by the on-site vets and walked back to the stable and is uninjured.

South Western Ambulance Service raced to the scene before also deploying an air ambulance.

Despite their best efforts, she could not be saved.

In an Equine America interview last year, Georgie recalled winning the 4* Long in 2022, at Ligniers, with Global Quest.
