Infamous breakdancer Rachael “Raygun” Gunn has revealed she won’t compete in the Olympics again after facing intense backlash and scrutiny.

The 37-year-old B-girl instantly went viral after her performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics where she scored zero after hopping like a kangaroo and writhing around on the floor like a snake.

However, Gunn has now confirmed she’ll no longer compete in an interview with 2DayFM’s Jimmy & Nath for Breakfast.

When asked by Nath if she’d consider it in four years’ time, she replied: “Nooooooo.”

“I still break, but I don’t compete. I’m not going to compete anymore. No. No,” Raygun told the program.

She said going into the Olympics she planned to keep competing; however, that “seems really difficult for me to do now to approach a battle”.

“I still dance and I still break, but that’s like in my living room with my partner!” she said.

“I think the level of scrutiny that’s going be there, and the people will be filming it, it’ll go online and it’s just not going to mean the same thing.

“It’s not going to be the same experience because of everything that’s at stake.”

Gunn said the backlash over her Olympics performance had been “really upsetting”.

“I just didn’t have any control over how people saw me or who I was,” she said.

However, Gunn has stepped out for a dance since the Olympics, busting out some moves alongside billionaire Richard Branson on a Virgin Voyages Celebration Voyage sailing in the Mediterranean.

Video footage shows Gunn being welcomed onto the stage to huge cheers and talking about what she loves most about breakdancing.

“It’s all about relaxing, it’s about having fun and it’s about being yourself, and I just totally love that,” she said.

The B-girl then takes to the dance floor before Mr Branson joins her, pulling out the infamous kangaroo hop move.

“Oh Richard, that was so three weeks ago, come on,” Gunn said, laughing it off.

She then gets the crowd involved in a group dance, standing at the head of the pool and encouraging everyone to follow along with her, reminiscent of a water aerobics class.

“That’s it, get it out — get some attitude!” Gunn said.
