It’s another massive night in the pool where both Kaylee McKeown and Ariarne Titmus could create more Olympic history.

The athletics is full of blue riband events, several gold medals are up for grabs in the rowing, plus could Matt Ebden and John Peers breakthrough for a long-awaited tennis gold medal?

Here’s what to look out for on day eight of the Paris Olympics.

KAYLEE MCKEOWN IN WOMEN’S 200 METRES INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY FINAL

Kaylee McKeown is venturing into the unknown here. She got disqualified from this event at last year’s world titles but has times on the board to suggest she can win gold in the medley. Her biggest threats will come from USA’s Kate Douglass and Canadian superstar Summer McIntosh.

ARIARNE TITMUS IN WOMEN’S 800 METRES FREESTYLE FINAL

This is Katie Ledecky’s chance to join the great Michael Phelps in winning an Olympic event at four successive Games, having won the 800m freestyle every Olympics since London 2012. Can our Arnie stand in her way and add another gold medal to her tally?

MIXED 4x 100M MEDLEY RELAY

A race where strategy is key, the mixed medley relay is a fascinating race where tactics continue to evolve. With two women and two men split across the different strokes, how will the Aussies line-up and can they chase the Americans down?

MATTHEW TEMPLE IN MEN’S 100 METRES BUTTERFLY FINAL

The Aussie swimmer has grabbed an outside lane for the final on Saturday night but will need an all-time swim to get near the medals. His Australian record of 50.25 that he set late last year could be enough to do it, if he can find a way to replicate it.

BREE MASTERS

The first Aussie to make the semi-finals of the women’s 100 metres since Melinda Gainsford-Taylor at Sydney 2000. It won’t be an easy task as she’s been drawn in the same semi-final as Sha’carri Richardson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, but it’s a moment to savour for the Aussie regardless.

TARA RIGNEY

Rigney has been one of the top competitors in the women’s single sculls all week and finally gets her chance to go for gold on Saturday. It’s a strong field, led by New Zealand’s Emma Twigg, but now that Rigney has qualified she’ll like her chances.

MEN’S AND WOMEN’S EIGHTS

Both Aussie eight boats have qualified for the gold medal race after progressing through the repechage rounds. Rowing Australia has gone all-in on the eights in the years since Tokyo, so there will be a strong expectation that at least one of them can bring home a medal.

MATT EBDEN AND JOHN PEERS

Matt Ebden’s Olympics started with a singles match against Novak Djokovic on centre court, and now it will end on the same arena as he goes for gold in the men’s doubles with John Peers. Can they recreate the Woodies’ success from Atlanta 1996 and claim a long-awaited gold medal for Australia?

GRAE MORRIS

Postponed a day, Morris now gets his chance to go for gold in the men’s windsurfing. He was ranked number one throughout the series and is the odds-on favourite to add to Australia’s incredible history in Olympic sailing.
