Jess and Noemie Fox, Grace Brown, Eleanor Patterson and Nicole Olyslagers going for gold

The Aussies are not finished in the pool while Jess Fox will be joined by sister Noemie in the hunt for more gold. And our women’s high jumping pair have a great chance of gold in the field.

The medal chances don’t stop for the Aussies in another jam-packed day of action across Paris.

In the pool, it’s all about the sprinters and the relays. Over at the Stade de France, the athletics program heats up. While some of our teams are getting to the pointy stage of their competition.

Here are some of the Aussies to look out for on Sunday.

SHAYNA JACK AND MEG HARRIS

Shayna Jack and Meg Harris fly the Aussie flag in this event and after Jack’s sub-24 breakthrough at trials, anything is possible. World record holder Sarah Sjoestrom is the one to beat in this event with the six fastest times in the world this year.

AUSTRALIA WOMEN’S 4x100m MEDLEY RELAY

Australia is the defending champions in this event but with Lilly King in breaststroke and Gretchen Walsh in butterfly giving the US a three-second advantage, it will take an almighty performance for the Dolphins to win gold again, but they’ve proven this week that you can’t count them out.

NICOLA OLYSLAGERS & ELEANOR PATTERSON

Two Aussies will be jumping for gold in one of Australia’s best medal chances in athletics. Nicola Olyslagers and Eleanor Patterson have numerous accolades to their name, but can either add an Olympic gold medal to the list on Sunday?

TORRIE LEWIS

Australia’s new queen of the track, Torrie Lewis will get her first chance at the Olympics in the first round of the 200m event. She will also be competing alongside fellow Aussie, Mia Gross, as they look to advance to the next stage of competition.

ALANAH YUKICH

Yukich’s efforts just to make the Paris Olympics were remarkable, including three events in three different countries in three days to earn her qualification. Now she’s here, she’ll be looking to make a statement alongside Sarah Carli in the first round of the 400m hurdles.

CHRIS MITREVSKI

The 28-year-old is in career-best form having set a new PB in the long jump of 8.32 metres earlier this year. Despite competing for more than a decade, this is his first Olympics and he’ll be looking to make the most of a moment he has spent a long time waiting for.

JESS FOX, NOEMIE FOX, TIM ANDERSON AND TRISTAN CARTER

The quartet will all be in action in the heats of the kayak cross, attempting to make Monday’s knockouts and medal rounds. The new event pits competitors against one another navigating a course in what is essentially a contact sport on the water.

CAITLIN PARKER

The captain of this Australian boxing team, Parker is one win away from a medal. Standing in her way is Morocco’s Khadija Mardi, the IBA women’s heavyweight world champion. This won’t be an easy bout but Parker will give everything to try and come home with a medal.

AUSSIE STINGERS

The Stingers will be eyeing off another big scalp in the group round and Hungary could be that. Despite being one of the stronger teams, the Aussies have a 2-1 record over the Hungarians at the Olympics and will look for their undefeated form to continue.

KOOKABURRAS

The gold medal has proven elusive in recent Olympics, but the Kookaburras have a great chance in Paris as they prepare for their quarterfinal against the Netherlands. We’re yet to see their best outside of a big win against New Zealand, but the knockout stage is where they want to perform.

OPALS

The Opals are back on track following their win against Canada, but this could be their toughest task yet. The French are undefeated on top of the group, but the Aussies will look to generate some momentum for the knockout stages with a win against the host nation.

GRACE BROWN, LORETTA HANSON & RUBY ROSEMAN-GANNON

Three Aussies, including our opening gold medallist of Paris Grace Brown, are set to compete in the gruelling women’s road race event. Joining Brown will be Loretta Hanson and Ruby Roseman-Gannon in the 158km course that starts and ends at the Trocadero.

JASON DAY

It hasn’t been the week our Aussie men have wanted on the course, but on the final day of play at Le Golf National, Jason Day is best placed to make a late surge up the leaderboard, tied for 10th and five shots off the leader, Jon Rahm.
