Australian basketball sensation Dyson Daniels is courting success in a new field with high hopes to slam dunk the fashion world.
The NBA star, who will help lead the Boomers’ charge towards Olympics glory, has given Paris Confidential the first look at his new streetwear label Vouseti.
“Vouseti is an extension of me and my style that I wanted to share with the world,’’ Daniels said.
“I’m really happy with where it is at with the team and how I’m able to put my creative ideas into streetwear.
“We want to build a community as well, a strong community that people are involved in and can have their say, and we can start to make changes based on what people want. That’s where we’re headed.
“We wanted colours that were going to pop and push streetwear norms.
“Each piece within the collection was carefully designed so that they could be worn with another, whilst still holding individuality.
“We have our own unique symbol on each piece of the collection – two arrows facing back to back. This symbol, reflects friendship, the brand ethos of having each other’s back, an overall message we have conveyed within our collection.
“The brand name Vouseti stands for You and I: the name stems from the meaning of ‘you and I’. French word ‘vous’ meaning ‘you’, the Italian word ‘e’ meaning ‘and’ and the English word ‘I’.”
Daniels has posed for pictures to promote the brand and enlisted Melbourne model Paris Bishop, the partner of Essendon footballer Sam Durham.
The first collection drop will be announced in late August.
“Paris is really good at what she does and we thought she would fit our brand really well, and she did just that,’’ Daniels said.
“This brand is for everyone. It’s for anyone who feels inspired to wear it and anyone in my community who wants to. We want to make changes based on what people want.”
When it comes to the Olympics, Daniels says representing Australia “means the world”.
He is confident the Boomers can medal, following on from bronze in Tokyo.
“Coming into this camp our team has gold vibes only,’’ he said.
“We know we’re good enough to get that gold medal.
“It’s going to be tough as every team is so good, but we know if we’re on our A-game every day we are a huge chance.
“The opportunity to play in an Olympic Games doesn’t happen very often so to finally be here is a dream come true.
“It’s always been a dream of mine as a kid to play in one so to have that opportunity right there in front of me I’ll definitely be making the most of it, no matter who we play against.
“There’s no better feeling than to put the green and gold on and know you have a whole country behind you.
“It’s only better doing it with such a good group of guys who really care about the country and play with such passion and toughness which is what the Australians are known for.”
