Usain Bolt reveals he’s been banned by police in Jamaica from random acts of kindness

USAIN Bolt’s trouble-making act has been banned by police because the Olympic champion was causing too many fights.

Stop what you’re doing.
Stop what you’re doing.

USAIN Bolt has revealed police were forced to ask him to stop handing out money to fellow Jamaicans — because his acts of charity were causing too much violence.

The six-time Olympic champion is a national hero back home on the Caribbean island and regularly donates chunks of his money to worthwhile causes.

However, The Sun reports the triple world record holder has admitted one of his schemes in Kingston has had to be shelved because it ended up leading to fights.

Bolt, who will compete in the Jamaican Olympic trials that start today, said: “Around December each year I would allocate a certain amount of my own money, about US$30,000, and I’d use that to help people who I thought really needed it.

“In the end I had to stop because it caused trouble.

The greatest of them all.
The greatest of them all.

“I train on a university campus and what happened was the students I’d helped would get into fights with the people who hadn’t got anything.

“Word would spread and there was a lot of jealousy.

“It became an issue and the police kept getting called out to sort out the fights, so in the end they asked me stop doing it.”

Bolt has set up his own foundation aimed at helping out under-privileged youngsters, and once gave $1.8 million to his old school after their athletic program was threatened with closure.

But the 29-year-old, who is targeting three more gold medals at the Rio Olympics, has also become a victim of his own kindness, and says he is regularly approached by people with fake claims for help.

In an interview with Runners World, Bolt added: “Every story you can think of, I’ve probably heard it already.

“But one lady told me she’d had internal bleeding for years and wanted money for an operation.

“I said, ‘Lady, if you’d been bleeding on the inside for years you’d be dead.’

Faster than lightning.
Faster than lightning.

“I used to listen to everyone and privately I’d try to help most of them but the more you help a few, the more they tell everyone else and then more and more people come to you and it’s just not possible to help everyone.

“I still try to help one in two people but it becomes harder to tell who is telling the truth and who is lying.

“People have doctored documents – medical certificates – and brought them to me to try and fool me.

“The problem is always with the adults and not the kids, so I now mostly help the young ones.

“If you’re going to school and need help paying off your student loan or need books or something, I will try to help you.”
