Rio Bants: Klay Thompson sledges Andrew Bogut as Team USA defend cruise ship Rio accommodation
RIO BANTS: Team USA star rips Aussie Andrew Bogut, NBA baller’s complaint about luxury cruise ship accom, Draymond Green’s new Snapchat antics and Olympic Village hits Airbnb.

Don't miss out on the headlines from Olympics. Followed categories will be added to My News.
TEAM USA superstar Klay Thompson has cheekily labelled Andrew Bogut “spoilt” for complaining about the accommodation at the Rio 2016 athletes village.
Thompson’s comments on his former Golden State teammate were made in jest, but they’re possibly still a bit rich coming from a guy staying on a luxury cruise ship with his teammates during the Games.
Dallas Mavericks signing Bogut complained about the small beds and tiny share rooms before arriving in Brazil and launched a fresh spray on Twitter when he got there last week.
At #IOCLuxuryLodging we believe a bed is not vital for sleep. Fine tuned athletes can sleep standing up. https://t.co/FcsEAf33Sm

Thompson, speaking at Team USA’s media launch in Rio on Thursday, said he couldn’t wait to face his good friend Bogut in the group stages next week and backed his friend to overcome his pre-Games challenges.
“I haven’t talked to him about it (the accommodation) yet but Andrew’s been spoiled. He’s been in the NBA 10 years, he’s probably been travelling as best you possibly can,” Thompson told reporters.
“But when he gets on that court, he’ll forget about all that and play his hardest.
“I’m happy he’s out there, more than anything, to play this Olympics for his country. He’s going to be a force we’ll have to deal with.”

Thompson and his teammates spent much of the media session playing down their own digs.
The Silver Cloud is docked in Rio’s port and can accommodate up to 400 people in its 196 cabins.
Thompson insists, though, that’s it’s really no different to staying at a hotel.
“It’s not like we’re cruising around on vacation,” he said.
“It’s more of a hotel but it’s nice and I like the balcony. It’s nice and you can see the water and the scenery of Rio. We appreciate the sponsors took care of us.”
Veteran Carmelo Anthony also doesn’t see what the fuss is about.
“There’s some disadvantages staying on a ship, I’ll tell you that,” Anthony said.
“The beds are not big, the rooms are small.”
HILARIOUS AIRBNB SPOOF ON AUSSIE OLYMPIC ACCOM
The internet never misses an opportunity - and so it’s proved with Australia’s Olympic Village accommodation debacle.
Someone has uploaded a hilarious Airbnb profile of the athletes’ digs, branded: Rio Olympic Village - MINMALIST INCOMPLETE-CHIC! and going for $104 a night.
The ad, complete with pics, listed the digs as catering for 16 inhabitants - in a 10-bedroom apartment with just seven beds and half a bathroom.
“Our cosy rooms are accessible by construction elevator and all bedding meets the 1949 Geneva Convention,” it read
“Bathrooms are blissfully graced with dual toilet/water features and the living room is adorned by the romantic crackle of live wires.
“Gaze over the enticing chestnut waters of Lagoa de Jacarepagua as it teems with life, which is microscopic in nature.
“Rooms are not fitted with smoke detectors, but all walls are filled with enough asbestos to withstand a demonic infernus.”
Other features? A horse on the balcony and a swimming pool filled with brown water.
And the crowning glory: House rules, with a nod to Andrew Bogut.
– Keep mouth closed when swimming
– Clean urine provided daily
– Pool is 100% organic chlorine-free
– Russians not allowed
– Complimentary anti-kidnapping classes
– Shower curtains must be hand-stitched by guests
GREEN TAKES TO SNAPCHAT AGAIN - TO CRITIQUE TEAMMATES’ HAIR
Draymond Green has had himself a week ...
From posting a full-frontal nude screenshot a.k.a. “getting hacked”, to turning Kevin Durant into a villain, to portraying Carmelo Anthony as the grumpy “GET OFF MY LAWN!” grandpa of the US Olympic basketball team ... now, Green has taken it upon himself to analyse all of his teammates’ haircuts and document his findings on Snapchat.
SOLO’S ZIKA BACKLASH
Outspoken US women’s football team star Hope Solo copped it from local fans when the tournament kicked off.
The goalkeeper endured chants of “Zika, Zika” throughout the USA’s 2-0 win over New Zealand.
That follows her repeated comments about her fears of coming to Brazil because of the mosquito-borne virus.
She made a few more enemies with a couple of cheeky Tweet showing her well prepared to ward off mozzie marauders.

“I’m glad the fans had fun,” Solo said after being jeered by the crowd of around 10,000. “And if they had fun at my expense, more power to them.”
ATHLETES LEFT BOLT-STRUCK
Usain Bolt is settling into village life and hoping to keep a low profile. But he can’t help be the centre of attention.
US gymnast Aly Raisman said she almost flipped over a table to meet the sprint star in the dining hall.
We just met @usainbolt in the dining hall. Almost flipped the table over 2 get 2 him. Who wouldn't? Sryð thx for taking the time 2 meet usðð»

Bolt, meanwhile, is rocking a personalised set of headphones that remind everyone just who the fastest man on the planet is.

SBW RACKING UP THE ATHLETE HAPPY SNAPS
Sonny Bill Williams’ athlete meeting and greeting game is strong. A day after snapping a pic with tennis icon Rafael Nadal, SBW switched sports to jag a shot with world 400m champion Wayde van Niekerk of South Africa.

THE WORST MEDAL OF THE GAMES
What’s the “worst gold medal” at the Rio Olympics?
According to Deadspin website that would be the individual dressage in the Equestrian event.
The site has ranked all 306 medals putting the manure on dressage because “it’s primarily accessible to British royalty—Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter, Zara Phillips, won a silver medal in London 2012— and American royalty—Bruce Springsteen’s daughter, Jessica, was an alternate at the last Olympics.”
So No.1 is the 100m men’s final right? Nope, they got at least one of these wrong - top spot went to Gymnastics – Women’s Individual All-Around, while the women’s team all-round came in third, from the men’s 4x100m medley swim relay and men’s basketball.
