A MEDALLIST’S mum has vented her fury over a paper’s front page which shafted her son completely in the picture it published.

THE mother of Olympic synchronised diver Daniel Goodfellow has slammed the front page of the UK Daily Telegraph for running a front page cover photo featuring only his partner, Tom Daley.
The young pair scored bronze in Rio in the men’s synchronised 10-metre platform dive in what is only Britain’s eighth medal in the sport. It’s a remarkable feat considering they only started training together last October and it was Goodfellow’s first Olympics.
However the Daily Telegraph’s decision to run a full length picture of Daley instead of the pair — who were so ecstatic at their third place they fell in the pool while celebrating — prompted outrage from Goodfellow’s mother Sharon online.
“I am very surprised by this photo. Is it for real? I am Dan’s mum,” Sharon Goodfellow wrote online.
The same picture was also used on the cover of the Daily Mail and in the Daily Express, prompting shock from Brits online angry that one half of the synchronised pair was so under-represented in the celebrations.

The snub for Goodfellow was noted by many online with Scott Bryan writing “very good point that”. Another user known as Paul told Sharon Goodfellow: “good for you. Proud of your son.”
Roger Thomson tweeted, “Come on papers two people trained hard to win that medal. Poor form” while others said it was ludicrous to illustrate a medal for a synchronised sport with just one half of the pair.
@Telegraph the Daley Telegraph. Wasn't there some other chap involved?

@Telegraph Where's Daniel Goodfellow? Disgraceful - you should make a front page apology to him.

Congrats to Tom Daley (and his synchro partner Dan Goodfellow, who seems to be getting cropped out of the story): pic.twitter.com/DEizCZT14s

The image was also shared by a UK media blog that has more than 70,000 followers and was picked up by other media outlets.
Ms Goodfellow said she had contacted the journalist involved but had not received a response.
Despite the coverage Goodfellow and Daley remain ecstatic about their result, with both tweeting how thrilled they were to scoop the medal alongside US and Chinese divers.
Atmosphere was electric. Thanks for the support. #proudtobebritish #bronze #RIo2016 #TeamGB
