IF RUNNERS in Sunday’s Adelaide Marathon are looking for a world-class pacer to help them through the gruelling event then there’s no one better qualified than Jess Trengove.

Trengove is lining up in the 21.1km half-marathon on her local roads less than two weeks after she produced an amazing ninth place overall in the women’s marathon at the world championships in London.

It was the best performance by an Australian woman in world championship history and enhanced Trengove’s medal prospects at next year’s Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast and even the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Trengove said she had recovered well from the world champs and was looking forward to having some fun in this Sunday’s event which finishes inside Adelaide Oval.

“I’ll jump in and join the masses and enjoy it,” she said.

“It will be good just being out there and trying to help a few people achieve their goals.

“I’m not sure what time I’ll run but if there’s someone out there at a certain pace that I can help then I’ll try to do that.

“I’ve been really happy with my recovery (from London) it was pretty similar if not better than the last marathon I ran, the main issue is just sore blisters and toenails but no muscle issues.”
