Roosters grand plan to conquer America

Central Coast rugby league officials have taken the extraordinary step of banning Woy Woy fans from attending this weekend’s game following an ugly brawl last Sunday.

Police are investigating the fight, which is understood to have involved fans and players during the match between Woy Woy and Wyong at Woy Woy Oval.

The drama continues a tumultuous off-field season for Woy Woy, who signed former Test, NSW and Cronulla star Andrew Fifita this year.

The drama erupted behind the dressing rooms after a parent had accused an opponent of stomping on his son’s head.

There is also an accusation that someone from the crowd threw a rubber ball which hit Fifita’s daughter and there is a suggestion the father of an NRL star may have been involved in the incident.

Multiple sources have claimed that a racial comment initiated the drama.

Fifita contacted this masthead to deny he was in any way involved in the melee.

It’s understood police have vision of the incident behind the grandstand.

Woy Woy supporters have now been prohibited from attending this Sunday’s match against Terrigal at Woy Woy Oval.

There are accusations a racist comment may have prompted the fight.

Rugby League Central Coast chairman Nathan Waugh issued a stern and immediate statement about Woy Woy’s crowd.

“The Rugby League Central Coast Board convened last night (Tuesday) to address an incident that occurred at Woy Woy Oval on Sunday 9th June,” Waugh wrote.

“Following careful consideration and deliberation, the board has made the decision to implement a temporary ban on all spectators for the upcoming round 9 fixture at Woy Woy Oval this weekend against the Terrigal-Wamberal Sharks.

“The decision to enforce this ban comes in response to an incident that occurred at the oval, highlighting the need for heightened security measures to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.

“While the RLCC values the enthusiastic support of spectators, the safety of players, staff, and fans remains paramount.

“This decision serves as a stern warning to all clubs, players, and spectators regarding the importance of adhering to the established codes of conduct and regulations.

“We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all stakeholders as we work towards ensuring a secure and enjoyable experience for everyone involved in RLCC events.”

Woy Woy have been involved in other off-field issues this season.

There is some talk that Fifita may be restless with his new club.

“All players and staff are reminded that they must carry their RLOC pass to access the ground during the fixture,” Waugh said.

“This measure is implemented to maintain accountability and ensure that only authorised individuals are present within the premises.

“The RLCC Board reaffirms its commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all participants within the rugby league community.

Wyong won last Sunday’s match 12-6.
