High-profile Warriors recruit Roger Tuivasa-Sheck has pleaded guilty to drink-driving in an Auckland district court.
The incident occurred the day after Tuivasa-Sheck had attended an event at SkyCity in Auckland’s CBD.
The former Sydney Roosters made an “error in judgement” by returning to collect his car the next morning.
Tuivasa-Sheck will return to the NRL next season after a stint with the All Blacks.
It was alleged Tuivasa-Sheck played a rugby union match with Auckland in September, arriving at the event around midnight, where he drank five beers before leaving at 2am.
He slept at a friend’s place until 6am.
Tuivasa-Sheck then caught an Uber to Manukau to collect his car, prominent criminal barrister John Munro told the court.
Munro said Tuivasa-Sheck “felt quite good and didn’t feel drunk at all” before making an “an error of judgement” by returning to SkyCity.
A New Zealand Herald report claimed “the former All Black and Kiwis star blew 453 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath when tested on State Highway 1 on September 10.
“A result between 250 and 400 micrograms results in a $200 fine, while anything over 400 leads to a court date.”
Tuivasa-Sheck presented a letter to the court expressing remorse at his decision to drive.
