HE was the forgotten man of the early Origin chatter.
Young halves like Nathan Cleary and Mitchell Moses were supposed to stamp their authority in the opening rounds of the season with the kind of form that demanded NSW selection.
Instead, Cleary is sitting on the sideline with a MCL injury and Moses has struggled in a dire Eels outfit.
Enter Luke Brooks.
The halfback has exploded into form for the Tigers and must be giving new Blues coach Brad Fittler plenty to think about.
Monday Bunker host Paul Crawley says if Brooks is still one of the form halfbacks come selection time he needs to be given the opportunity in the Origin arena.
“James Maloney, he has to be there,” he said.
“So who is his partner? At the start of the season you would have said it was going to be Nathan Cleary.
“If Nathan doesn’t get back in time, Luke Brooks is an option, Blake Green is an option, Mitchell Pearce and Luke Keary.
“I hope we go on form this year, I hope they don’t go ‘we’ll give him [Brooks] another year and we’ll wait and see how he’s going’.”
