Rock legend Tina Turner has spoken of her immense pride that the NRL has resurrected the Simply The Best TV campaign after 30 years.
The NRL will launch a promotional TV blitz on Monday with a remake of the nation’s most iconic sports marketing campaign on the eve of the 2020 kick-off.
Tina’s track will be used in the two-minute advertisement that will also be cut into 60- and 30-second versions during the season.

Now 80, Tina viewed the advert last weekend and loved what she saw. “I am thrilled the NRL is still excited about Simply The Best and will use it again after all this time,’’ she said.
“Thirty years on, to see the song being celebrated and the campaign relaunched is very humbling. To this day, I have very fond memories of the campaign and the grand final performance.
“I can also still remember climbing to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge at dawn to film the commercial.
“The grand final was my first rugby league game and I’ve never forgotten it. I wish the NRL all the best with the campaign.”

The new version celebrates the highlights of the past 30 years — on and off the field — including Benji’s 2005 flick pass, Scott Sattler’s 2003 cover tackle and Darren Albert’s grand final matchwinning try for Newcastle in 1997.
It also reflects on the off-field impact league has had on the community. Former boss John Quayle has also seen the advertisement and given it his approval.
