Matty Johns has relived the time Ray Hadley and Buzz Rothfield came to blows, ending with fisticuffs outside a hotel room.

Phil Rothfield has given his version of events after Matty Johns told the tale of when ‘Buzz’ came to blows with Ray Hadley in a Brisbane hotel room.

Hadley has been locked in a war of words in recent weeks with Andrew Bolt.

But it’s not the first time Hadley has turned on a fellow journalist.

As Johns explained on Fox League Live, that man was Buzz Rothfield.

Both journalists were staying at a hotel, when Rothfield demanded Hadley came down to the hotel bar to join him for a drink.

“Hadley’s up in his room and Buzz is downstairs having a drink,” Johns explained.

“He keeps ringing up and asking Hadley him to come down.

“Eventually Buzz goes upstairs, knocks on his door, Hadley opens it, goes boosh and he drops Buzz.”

But Buzz bit back when he joined the Fox League Live team on Sunday night.

“He whacked me then he slammed the door in my face, so I had no chance of getting a hit in myself,” said Buzz. “I jumped into the lift, went downstairs, rang his room and said: ‘car park, now, none of this king hit stuff.’ But he opened me up.

Buzz also responded to Johns’ impressions of him.

Johns has been mimicking the legendary journalist.

And Buzz, wasn’t happy to say the least. Here’s what he made of Johns’ impersonation.
