SHAUN Johnson’s recovery from an ankle injury is continuing unabated but the Warriors halfback has given fans a chilling insight into the process.

The New Zealand international posted a picture of his recovering ankle on Facebook following the removal of his cast — and the results are stomach turning to say the least.

Johnson had the cast removed from his ankle.

“Got told I’m healing well and everything is as it should be! The big cast has been taken off and I’ve been put into a moon boot! The feeling of having my foot free is unbelievable haha.,” Johnson posted.

“There’s a few of my scar so if you’re not one for gross pics I suggest you close your eyes!”

Johnson sustained the injury in a defeat to, Manly two weeks ago and without him the Warriors season has completely nosedived.

Johnson posted the picture to his Facebook page.

The New Zealanders have dropped consecutive games to Cronulla and St George Illawarra and have all but slipped out of the semi final picture.

Johnson is expected to be fit for Round 1 of next season.
