TITANS coach Neil Henry has conceded the Gold Coast’s season is at risk of falling apart, as they sweat on the fitness of Jarryd Hayne for Saturday’s clash with the Sharks.

The star fullback is racing the clock to make his return from an ankle injury in a bid to help his ailing club.

The Titans are desperate for a win after losing six of their first seven games to start the year, with their only victory coming against the Eels in Round 3.

Hayne was named in Henry’s 21-man squad, along with Konrad Hurrell (ankle) and Kevin Proctor (hamstring).

Hayne hasn’t played since Round 2.

All three will given until Friday’s captain run to prove their fitness.

Henry admitted that the injury-ravaged Titans are hopeful the trio will be right to play to help save the club’s finals hopes.

“The season, it is running away from us,” he said.

“Probably the biggest problem has been our lack of team cohesion. We really haven’t had 13 players from week to week that have played together.

“We need to turn it around and it’s a big scalp trying to go down there to beat the Sharks who are in great form.”

Henry said Hayne did a field session over the weekend and will train today and again on Friday.

He is the most likely of the trio to play on Saturday, with Proctor and Hurrell “touch and go”.

All three are reportedly keen to play however and Henry said he will use all of them if they get through the week.

“We’d love to have them play but you run the risk of taking three players out there in the starting 13 that are all 80 per cent,” he said.

“(If) two of them go down, you’re in the same situation.

“They’ve got to feel comfortable that they can contribute. Two of those players are 80-minute players so you need them in the backline.

“We’re guarded about it but obviously if they put their hands up and they’re right to go, we’ll take them.”

Despite the good news that Hayne, Proctor and Hurrell could all return for the important meeting, the injury woes are continuing for the Titans.

Chris Grevsmuhl was named in the 17 yesterday but is battling a groin injury while young forward Max King has been ruled out for two months with a broken hand.

Joe Greenwood (concussion) has returned to take King’s place.
