ASHLEY Taylor is the key for the Titans and Chris McQueen must be re-signed. Here’s five things we learned from the Gold Coast’s 26-14 win over Parramatta.
Titans
Don't miss out on the headlines from Titans. Followed categories will be added to My News.
IN one of their most heroic victories, the Titans defied injury and the form guide to earn a 26-14 win over previously unbeaten Parramatta.
Here’s five things we learned from the match.
1) Titans halfback Ashley Taylor has been the Gold Coast’s standout player in the opening three rounds of the season. Taylor has carried on his impressive form from 2016 when he was crowned the Dally M rookie of the year and has stood up when the Titans needed him to.

2) The Titans will miss Chris McQueen if he leaves the club at the end of this season. The Gold Coast has put contract negotiations with McQueen on hold to assess his form in the early rounds of the season.
He has played centre the past two weeks and charged for 135m last night in a fantastic performance. His experience and versatility is crucial.

3) Agnatius Paasi has set the standard for the Gold Coast’s forward pack this season.
Paasi plays with high energy, something starting props Ryan James and Jarrod Wallace need to find.
Tempo is everything in the middle and the Titans need more punch from their big names.
4) Parramatta is looking like a one-man band.
The Eels shot out to a 12-0 lead and looked to be cruising, but fell apart as soon as the Titans found some possession.
The blue and golds were rudderless when under pressure without regular halfback Corey Norman (hamstring). They need to find a way to perform when Norman is missing.
5) Titans five-eighth Kane Elgey is scratching to find some form but the signs are good.
Elgey has been inconsistent this season in his return from a knee reconstruction, however he has had some nice touches and will improve as the season wears on.
He is still an NRL novice with only 19 games next to his name.
