SAUASO Sue says he was left “questioning everything” when he was banished to reserve grade to start the season.

Off-contract and unable to crack the Wests Tigers top grade squad had Sue pondering his future. Only suspension and injury had kept Sue out of the top grade since making his debut in round six 2013, with the 26-year-old notching 100 games for the club at the end of last season.

“It was very tough,” Sue said. “I was really emotional. That was actually the first time since I’ve debuted that I played reserve grade in six years, that was new to me.

“Not crying, but angry. Angry a little bit at yourself, I just started questioning everything.

“My value going down each ISP (Intrust Super Premiership) game I’m playing, it was playing on my mind. But you just got to keep positive, turn up game day and be ready to play your best footy so that’s it.

“This is the first time in my career that I’ve had this uncertainty this late in the season but I’m just focused on playing good footy and trying to stay in the NRL.”

While Sue has been linked to a move to Canterbury next season he said “there’s nothing sorted yet to be honest with you.”

After missing the first five games of the season, Sue has gone on to play the past four in the top grade.

“(Tigers coach Ivan Cleary) gave me feedback on stuff to work on and I did that,” Sue said. “Body language under fatigue was probably the biggest thing with repeat efforts … That’s why I’m playing NRL now. He’s pretty straight forward so you know what you need to do and I really enjoy Ivan’s coaching.

“He’s actually improved my game and pushed me out of my comfort zone and that’s a credit to my coaching.”
