The Cronulla Sharks have trumped a host of NRL rivals to land the prized signature of young gun local junior Blayke Brailey on a three-year contract extension.

In a major coup for the Sharks, Brailey put pen to paper on a three-year $1.2 million deal prior to last night’s come-from-behind victory over Penrith.

The deal will keep Brailey, 20, - one of the hottest prospect on the open market - in the Shire until the end of 2022.

Older brother Jayden, 23, remains contracted until the end of 2020 at the Sharks - meaning the extremely close brothers have at least 12-months longer together at the club.

Brailey was on the radar of more than half-a-dozen rival club’s with the Junior Kangaroos hooker considered a future representative player.

He has impressed in six NRL games this season since making his debut in Round 1.

With his older brother Jayden starting at hooker for the Sharks, the younger Brailey has been utilising his opportunities from the interchange bench.

Prior to their first match together at the start of the season, Blayke and Jayden said playing in the NRL together was something they had dreamt about.

“All we ever wanted to be was an NRL player. We’ve looked up to NRL players growing up and now to be here, that’s why it feels so surreal,” Jayden said.

“We’re both in the moment together. We’re so lucky.

“To be able to share it with each other, after the journey of growing up together, I can’t put it into words.’’
