Manly CEO Lyall Gorman confirmed the club’s curiosity in the ex-Parramatta, Bulldogs and Newcastle half, but conceded “nothing will be happening”.
Gorman said Hodkinson was locked in at Cronulla ending any chance securing his services this season.
He also stressed the situation had nothing to do with the club’s salary cap investigation.
Despite this, Manly remain in a precarious position moving forward due to the club’s growing injury toll.
Following Lachlan Croker’s season-ending knee injury, Dylan Walker has been shifted from the centres to five-eighth for Sunday’s clash against the Roosters.
The Sea Eagles are also refusing to play fellow half Jackson Hastings after teammates said they couldn’t play alongside the ex-Rooster and Dragon.
