HELL has frozen over and the Sharks have won the title. Here’s five moments that mattered in their 14-12 win over the Storm.
1) Blake Green will go down in grand final folklore for one of the most remarkable try-saving tackles which was ultimately in vain.
Green somehow managed to bring down a flying Luke Lewis just centimetres from the tryline after James Maloney burst through Melbourne’s vulnerable defence.
It could have been the play of the game but the Sharks caught Melbourne snoozing just seconds later from a scrum for Ben Barba to score.

2) The Storm did not look like cracking Cronulla’s defence until giant prop Jesse Bromwich stepped up to the plate. Bromwich, named Dally M prop of the year during the week, lived up his mantle by carrying three Sharks defenders over the line for Melbourne’s first try.
Bromwich scored by showing pure strength and determination to get his team back into the contest following a dominant 50 minutes by Cronulla.
3) Class wins big games and the Storm have plenty of it within their ranks. Cooper Cronk and Cameron Smith may be two of the best players in the game but Will Chambers is no slouch. Chambers missed the entire State of Origin series because of a foot injury, however showed last night why he is one of the classiest centres in the game by scoring in the 64th minute to give Melbourne the lead for the first time.
4) Melbourne had done the most remarkable job to lead 12-8 with 12 minutes to go before Storm forward Christian Welch had a moment he would like to take back.
Welch collected Sharks halfback Chad Townsend around the jaw with a lazy tackle. Sharks forward Andrew Fifita scored the premiership-winning try in the next set.
5) Chambers came to life in the second half and could have so easily been Melbourne’s premiership hero.
With Melbourne trailing by two points and three minutes left on the clock, Chambers somehow grubbered the ball down the sideline and regathered it with only Ben Barba to beat. Chambers backed himself, ignoring an unmarked Cooper Cronk on the inside. Cronk would have scored to win the grand final.
