Marty Taupau re-signs with Sea Eagles until end of 2022

No headlines, no disputes, no dramas. Manly are going about their pre-season with quiet intent, boosted today by the re-signing of explosive prop Marty Taupau.

It’s been a quiet off-season on Sydney’s northern beaches as Manly play for season 2020 without any of the drama affecting their Sydney rivals.

But having locked in the Trbojevic brothers a few weeks ago, the Sea Eagles secured another key member of Des Hasler squad, confirming The Daily Telegraph’s report that blockbuster prop Martn Taupau had signed a new contract for two more years at Brookvale Oval.

“It’s a very exciting day getting to sign for another two years,” Taupau told the club’s website.

“This club means a lot to me and has given me a lot of opportunities over the last couple of years.”

There had been speculation Taupau wanted out of Manly because of a strained relationship with former coach Trent Barrett and rival clubs like Canterbury were on the radar. But the forward is happy and has flourished under Hasler’s tutelage.

Having surprised everyone with their run into the finals in Hasler’s firstly season back in charge of the club, the Sea Eagles can look to build on last season with a settled squad featuring an exciting mix of youth and experience.
