HE is desperately hoping for a NSW recall but Blake Ferguson holds grave fears that his drinking drama this year may cost him his treasured Blues jumper.
Ferguson described the sacking of Blues coach Laurie Daley as “wrong” and “weird” after the Blues came within minutes of winning this year’s Origin series.
Ferguson, the Sydney Roosters star, and Blues teammate Josh Dugan were heavily criticised for drinking at Lennox Head six days before State of Origin III.

Opening up about his day on the booze during camp, Ferguson said he “didn’t do the right thing”.
“If I got in that position again, would I do it? No, I wouldn’t, because it’s cost people their jobs and it’s cost me my job probably for NSW next year,” said Ferguson, who is preparing for Saturday night’s preliminary final against North Queensland at Allianz Stadium.
“There was an incident there in the third game but it didn’t harm anyone and was pretty respectful.
“Now I’m pretty remorseful for doing it. It’s about making mistakes and learning from them. It was a decision that I made that I have to live with.
“Would it happen next time? No, it wouldn’t. I’ve learnt it wasn’t the right thing to do. But I’ve done it and can’t rewind time.
“Hopefully I can get a (NSW) gig (but) I think the coach, the board, everyone will go in a new direction because of what happened this year.
“Only time will tell but hopefully my footy can do the talking. I still hope I can be in the team. I felt I didn’t let anyone down in regards to my performances on the field this year.”

Daley was axed after being let down by several board member he trusted. Even Ferguson was angry.
“The way that things ended up, the way it was dealt with, I thought it was wrong,” he said. “It was just weird. I thought he was going to get another year.
“He is definitely someone I respect, although things that happened in camp point to otherwise. He has looked at the good side of me. I think it could have been handled a little bit better.
“Lozza has been great for NSW as a player and coach. I’ve always had a great relationship with him.
“Hopefully he can get another job somewhere and stay in the game because he has a very smart footy mind.”
Ferguson has cast aside the Origin booze drama and is fully focused on the Roosters’ finals charge.
“I’m fine now,” he said. “It’s good when home life is good. I’m just enjoying it with my kids, trying to better myself every week.
“My partner and I are trying to be good role models for the kids and be good parents. I’m a grown-up now, I’m a man. I just have to deal with things the way other people deal with them.
“It’s not about what I’ve done in the past, it’s how I deal with things right now. Hopefully I can set up my kids and give them a bit of joy when they get older.”
