The Sydney Roosters have continued to lock down their premiership winning stars by extending back-rower Nat Butcher’s deal at the club.
The 22-year-old has re-signed until at least the end of 2022 with his contract not due to expire until the end of this season. He is the latest premiership winner to commit to the club joining the likes of Joey Manu, Siosiua Taukeiaho and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves who have inked long-term deals in recent months.

“I’ve been with the Roosters since I was 17 and I love this club,” Butcher said. “It’s home.
“I have so much respect for (coach) Robbo (Trent Robinson). He is a great leader and a great teacher. He along with the coaching staff and senior players we have here help make me better every day. I’m stoked to know that I’ll continue to be part of this team.”
Butcher attracted interest from a host of rivals but made his intentions known that he wanted to remain a Rooster.
He warmed up on the field as 19th man for the Roosters in their 2018 grand final win before taking to the field during their victory against Canberra last year.
He has played 39 games and captained the club’s under-20s side to a grand final win in 2016 alongside the likes of Manu, Victor Radley and Sitili Tupouniua. Robinson said Butcher was key to the club’s long-term success.
“Nat has been in our system for quite a few years, and it’s been great to see his growth over this time as one of the emerging young leaders coming through at the Roosters,” Robinson said.
“With Nat, you know that he will apply himself to everything he does. He is always looking at ways to develop, both on the field and as a person, and we look forward to seeing him continue to grow over the next few years.”
Butcher’s younger brother Egan is also part of the Roosters 30-man squad.
The Roosters have retained 15 members of their premiership winning squad after Cooper Cronk’s retirement and Latrell Mitchell’s decision to join South Sydney.
Fellow premiership winners including veteran’s Brett Morris and Mitch Aubusson are off-contract at season’s end as is co-captain Jake Friend.
