Chooks hide Cronk from press

A NOTORIOUS Kings Cross identity, the politician who could soon replace former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull in the seat of Wentworth and Sydney’s most powerful businessmen.

Welcome inside the private suite of the Sydney Roosters’ billionaire supremo Nick Politis for the NRL finals.

As the Roosters downed archrivals the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Allianz Stadium last Saturday to make the grand final, Liberal candidate for WentworthDave Sharma and Kings Cross nightclub owner John Ibrahim joined Politis, David Gyngell, Mark Bouris, Mark Fennessy and former David Jones boss Mark McInnes for the game.

DOUBTS: Cronk fails to train

Not that Sharma had any idea Ibrahim would be there until he walked in and bumped straight into the colourful character whose luxury Dover Heights mansion was recently raided by police.

Ibrahim has been a fanatical Roosters supporter for 30 years.

“I’ve been a fan since I moved to the eastern suburbs 30 years ago,” Ibrahim told The Sunday Telegraph. “I love them.”

It’s unclear if Ibrahim will be with the Roosters directors at Sunday’s game. The Roosters are not saying to avoid any unwanted attention from photographers.

“It’s all about the team and Nick, not me,” Ibrahim said. “Whenever Nick asks to be there at the game, I’m there. Everyone just gravitates to him. Players and businessmen. Everyone.”

Meanwhile, Mark Bouris is a big hitter in more ways than one.

He broke Jeff Fenech’s rib in a sparring session last week and their fight on the Sonny Bill Williams undercard is now in doubt.
