Luke Keary has backflipped on his retirement plans and is headed to the south of France.
The champion Roosters five-eighth has agreed to a two-year deal to join Catalans and play in the UK Super League from next season.
Keary announced last April that after 12 seasons at the top of his game, he was hanging up the boots.
“I have decided this will be my last and that I will be retiring at the end of the year,’’ Keary said at the time.
“It’s a decision I have thought long and hard about and I know it’s the right one for me and my family.
“Rugby League has been a huge part of my life, and I’m proud of the career I’ve had.’’
However, such has been Keary’s form with the Roosters, an offer from Catalans to continue playing has proven impossible to ignore.
Keary’s connection to Catalans coach Steve McNamara is also a major factor given he was a former Roosters assistant coach.
