Rabbitohs star Greg Inglis says fans can expect to continue seeing finals decided by a point

SOUTH Sydney superstar Greg Inglis wanted to make one point on Tuesday – and it was about one point.

SOUTH Sydney superstar Greg Inglis wanted to make one point on Tuesday – and it was about one point.

Three of the six finals matched so far have been settled by a field goal.

Inglis predicted Saturday night’s preliminary final against Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium could yet again be decided by a field goal.

The Storm’s Cameron Munster kicked the winner against the Rabbitohs in week one in the 76th minute.

The Rabbitohs’ capped an incredible night with the boot last Saturday with a 79th minute winner over the Dragons.

Two games, two one-point results.

“It’s been two weeks in a row so it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s a third week,” Inglis said.

“That’s finals footy. You never know what you’re going to get.

“That was proven last week. Three field goals to win a game. I can’t remember the last time that ever happened.

“What’s so good about it is that we can improve as a team from last weekend’s game. Last weekend, we were lucky enough to get away with that win.

“It’s a prelim and there is a spot in the grand final up for grabs. It’s against the Roosters, it doesn’t get much bigger than that. We just have to nullify their strike weapons as much as we can.”

Inglis heads an experienced Souths side that includes veterans Sam Burgess and John Sutton.

The younger kids will know what to expect too – thanks to Inglis.

“I will tell them to just enjoy the moment. Enjoy and have fun. Enjoy the week because you never know when you’ll be back in this position again,” Inglis said.

“We have a few players here who have been in this spot before and I think they have all know what it’s all about.

“It’s still early in the week, we don’t play until Saturday. We will get in Thursday and by Saturday we will be ready to go.”

Inglis was charged by the NRL match review committee this week for a crusher tackle against St George Illawarra last Saturday night. Without prior carry-over points, and with the charge being grade one, Inglis avoided a one-game suspension. Roosters star Latrell Mitchell will miss the clash after copping a ban for a crusher tackle.

“It’s pretty good to have a clean record. I got handed the grading and am obviously happy to play,” he said.

“I didn’t lose any sleep over it. I wasn’t nervous at all. Whatever the match review committee came up with, it was nothing I could control.

“There was no malice behind it (the tackle). It was just one of those accidental things that happen.

“I personally don’t like the tackle (a crusher) but I got charged. It’s a disturbing feeling to have when you put one on or get done by one. It’s not a great tackle to be charged for.”

While ready to explode against the Roosters, Inglis is playing down the match.

“To me, this will be just another game. I will get all the troops together and hopefully we can move as one on the same page. We will re-group and re-focus on what is at hand on Saturday night,” he said.
