Latrell Mitchell wishes Adam Doueihi ‘all the best’ after star’s arrival at Souths pushes young fullback out

Apparently it’s all about ‘chasing the dream’. Latrell Mitchell is happy to do that with Souths - and he wishes Adam Doueihi all the best after the deposed Rabbitohs fullback landed at the Tigers.

Latrell Mitchell hopes there are no hard feelings between him and departing South Sydney star Adam Doueihi.

Mitchell’s arrival at the Rabbitohs, combined with his public desire to play fullback, immediately cast doubt over Doueihi’s future at the NRL club. Doueihi was granted permission to skip South Sydney’s training camp last week as he tried to sort out his future.

Coach Wayne Bennett has reportedly told the 21-year-old that he is free to explore his options and he signed with the Tigers on Thursday.

Mitchell hasn’t had a chance to discuss the situation with Doueihi but says both players are chasing their dreams.

“I didn’t even know what was going on until this morning so I haven’t had a chance to talk to him yet,” Mitchell said.

“But Wayno (coach Bennett) and I had a yarn today, he said ‘look Doueihi is going to chase a dream’ and that’s all it is - it’s a dream - and I’m chasing mine as well.”

Doueihi has scored two tries in 30 appearances for the Rabbitohs, and Mitchell has tipped the Lebanon international to have a successful career.

“I know for Doueihi he’s a really good player and I just want to wish him all the best,” he said.

“It’s hard for me to come and one to go - I know what it’s like. I just want to give him all the best for him and his career and I know he’ll go a long way because he’s really driven.

“I just want to make sure that there’s no hard feelings between me and him. It’s just a business, we’ve both got to pay the bills and that’s how we do it - and also we’ve got to live our dream.”
