Penrith prop Reagan Campbell-Gillard suffers another broken jaw in preseason training

Penrith prop Reagan Campbell-Gillard will be eating his Christmas dinner through a straw after suffering a broken jaw, his second of the year, in preseason training.

Panthers prop Reagan Campbell-Gillard has broken his jaw for the second time this year.

Campbell-Gillard fractured his jaw through a nasty head clash with a teammate at training on Saturday.

Panthers group CEO Brian Fletcher said Campbell-Gillard won’t train for the next few weeks as he recovers.

The NSW prop actually trained again on Monday before the discomfort forced him to visit a doctor, who confirmed the fracture.

He will see a specialist on Tuesday and undergo X-rays.

Campbell-Gillard broke his jaw in June after a collision with Roosters prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, which cost him is State of Origin spot with NSW.

The injuries aren’t related. This break hasn’t been deemed as serious as that sustained in June.

While serious, the injury is expected to heal before next season’s trial matches.

Panthers general manager, Phil Gould, took to social media to reveal the injury.

He fractured his jaw at training today. It’s not in same place as his previous fracture. It’s not as serious. He will see surgeon to make sure, but we anticipate no surgery required. He won’t be chewing his food during the Christmas break. But he will be right for trial matches https://t.co/XDMlfqyLK4
