Knights superstar Kalyn Ponga is set to ink a new deal that will see him remain in Newcastle for as long as five more years.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports the 22-year-old is on the verge of signing lucrative deal of $1.1 million a season. The club is reportedly finalising the exact length of the contract, but it could be up to five years, keeping him a Knight until 2025.

The deal — which is expected to be announced this week — means Ponga’s dream of representing the All Blacks will be put on hold and he will become one of five highest-paid players in the NRL.

Ponga’s father, Andrew took the reins of contract negotiations after his son parted ways with former manager Wayde Rushton.
