NEWCASTLE have finally struck a player recruitment blow after several near-misses, signing Queensland State of Origin forward Aidan Guerra to a three-year deal.
The Roosters veteran has agreed to terms on a $1.6 million contract to join the struggling Knights.
After snaring Cowboys young gun Kalyn Ponga in the pre-season, Newcastle have been in the hunt for several star free agents, including Jack Bird, Matt Scott, Kieran Foran, Matt Prior and Dale Finucane, but have failed to get a deal done.
Guerra had an indifferent performance for the Maroons in the 28-4 loss to NSW in the series opener but the 29-year-old backrower, who played one Test for Australia in 2014, will add much-needed experience to the Newcastle side.
