Greatest NSW, QLD rugby league football factories: every Australian schoolboy rep of the last decade

The most exciting talent in the NRL has come through the Australian schoolboys system. We have compiled every Australian schoolboy representative since 2013, their high school and NRL club.

All hail the kings of the kids.

Patrician Brothers College, Blacktown has emerged as the reigning powerhouse in schoolboy rugby league after a study by this masthead found that they had supplied more national representatives than any other school over the past decade.

In recent years, Patrician Brothers has supplied the Australian Schoolboys team with the likes of Stephen Crichton and Spencer Leniu, two integral pieces of Penrith’s premiership-winning squad.

In total, 13 members of the school have gone on to represent their country at schoolboy level - aside from Crichton and Leniu, Patrician Brothers has also produced Warriors star Josh Curran and Dolphins halfback Sean O’Sullivan.

This year, three members of the school were named in the Australian schoolboys side - Wilson Decourcey, Jacob Halangahu and Finau Latu.

The school proclaims to have over 30 former students currently playing in the NRL - the largest number of any school in Australia, according to their website.

Above photos of Cronulla five-eighth Matt Moylan and Dolphins teenager Isaiya Katoa, the school lays claim to have made the national schoolboys cup final more times than any other in the past 10 years.

Their Australia representation reflects the success they have enjoyed on the field. Perhaps no club has benefited as much from the school’s success as Penrith - Decourcey is a member of the Panthers’ system.

“The past and present principals have always been very supportive of rugby league,” said Penrith chief executive Matt Cameron, a former student who also coached at the school.

“There has always been a strong balance between education and sport at the school. When I started at Penrith in 2012 we formalised the relationship with the school.

“A high proportion of our kids have come through there. It is reflective of the amount of talent there is in western Sydney.

“The school sits on the border of Penrith and Parramatta so they are not all Penrith kids. It has already been a diverse mix of lots of kids from different clubs.”

Patrician Brothers has had one more Australian schoolboys representative than famed rugby league nursery Endeavour Sports High, which boasts Cronulla star Teig Wilton, North Queensland and NSW hooker Reece Robson and his Cowboys teammate Luciano Leilua among their alumni.

Westfields Sports High has produced 11 national representatives including Manly flyer Jason Saab and Wests Tigers back Tommy Talau.

In Queensland, Keebra Park High School is king after turning out nine Australian schoolboys players including Brisbane superstars Reece Walsh and Payne Haas, and Gold Coast powerhouse David Fifita.

Palm Beach Currumbin has churned out seven schoolboy reps led by North Queensland and Maroons playmaker Thomas Dearden and Bulldogs halfback Toby Sexton.

Marcellin College at Randwick and The Hills Sports High School at Seven Hills have also produced seven Australian schoolboys representatives.
