The Parramatta Eels have secured the future of coach Brad Arthur with a two-year contract extension.
The announcement comes just days after Parramatta suffered one of the worst defeats in the club’s history with a 64-10 demolition against Melbourne at Suncorp Stadium.
Arthur’s future has been in limbo after claiming the wooden spoon in 2018, before returning the club to the top eight to begin the new year.
Arthur’s extension is also certain to impact the decision of club captain Clint Gutherson who is yet to put pen to paper with the Eels.
Parramatta Eels CEO, Bernie Gurr, backed Arthur as the right man to lead the club into the future.
“When we undertook our Football review last year it was clear that a long term strategy for our football department was needed to ensure our players and coaches have the best possible opportunity for success.
“It is the view of the Board and CEO that Brad is the best choice to lead our Club’s Football Program into the future.
“We are focused on continuing to be a Development Club and we strongly believe in what Brad is building and his ability to lead our NRL team in the right direction.”
An elated Arthur expressed his desire to return the club to its glory days.
“I feel very fortunate to be able to continue coaching at this great Club. We have a proud and passionate supporter base and I want us to give them the results they deserve.
“Everyone involved in our Football Program realises the responsibility we have in bringing sustained success to our Members and fans and that remains our priority.”
