NSW Origin coach Laurie Daley believes the NRL handled the Eels cap scandal well but says those bearing the brunt of the punishment are the real victims.

Daley sat down with Dean Ritchie to analyse yesterday’s events and said it was innocent players who have been hurt the most.

“I think the NRL have handled it quite well,” Daley said.

“It will be a difficult task for them to make the finals but there’s hope there.

“It’s a massive penalty and it should be a deterrent to everyone that you can’t cheat in this competition.”
