The Cowboys have reviewed the recent games Te Maire Martin played before he was diagnosed with a bleed on the brain and have not found it was suffered in a match incident.
Cowboys coach Paul Green said Martin, 23, had been suffering headaches this week and feeling unwell.
Green declined to comment on whether Martin would play again.
Green said Jason Taumalolo had trained Thursday but a decision was yet to be made on whether he would return from a knee injury in the match.
The Cowboys coach said his teammates were concerned for Martin’s welfare since they learned a small bleed on his brain had been diagnosed, but didn’t believe it would distract for their efforts to win Friday’s home match against the Titans.
“There is a lot of care for him (Martin),’’ Green said.
“We have a job to do, given the start to the season we have had - it’s the priority for us tomorrow night - it doesn’t mean we care any less for Te Maire.
“We are still getting to the bottom of what caused it and how we are going to manage it.
“We’ve been through the last few games and can’t see any big collisions and there weren’t any HIA (head injury assessments for Martin during games).

“There are other causes for it.
“I’ve been in fairly regular contact with him and he’s having headaches and not feeling the best at different times.’’
Green said a consideration with Taumalolo remains to negate any risk of further injury after he was given more time last week when considered for North Queensland’s loss to Canterbury.
