The Papua New Guinean international’s cameo for the Bulldogs’ Intrust Super Premiership side lasted for roughly two seconds.

In a throwback to the 1980s, Martin needed one more game to qualify for the Bulldogs’ reserve grade finals campaign.

Martin had his eyes on the sheds before the ball was kicked.

He lasted just two seconds.

Martin went straight up the tunnel.

Martin played seven games in the lower grade to begin the season before being promoted to the NRL side where he has been a stalwart in the Dogs’ back-row ever since.

NSWRL rules state that a player must take the field in eight games to qualify for finals.

Canterbury-Bankstown are well entrenched in the ISP top eight, while their NRL side won’t feature in this year’s finals series.

The club imitated the craftiness of just about every bush footy side in Australia to get their gun forward eligible for the upcoming finals campaign.

Martin started his first game for the side in months against North Sydney, before walking off the field with a cheeky grin as soon as his opponents kicked-off.

Martin wasted no time preparing for his upcoming NRL clash against the Warriors, striding straight up the tunnel at ANZ Stadium to switch jumpers.

The crafty move is well within the rules of the game, however the interpretation is sure to come under some degree of scrutiny following Sunday’s tactical ploy.

You can’t help but feel for the rest of the side who played the game a man down.
