MOSES Mbye feels assured of his position at the club despite suggestions he may be forced to make way to clear salary cap space for the big-spending Bulldogs.

While Mbye has relinquished his permanent halfback spot, he feels his spot at the club is more assured given he inked a four-year deal last season.

“All I know at the moment is I’ve got a contract here and haven’t been spoken to on that sort of level yet.

“If you read into it too much it can be a shock, but if you haven’t had a chat to the hierarchy at the club [then it’s not]. If that conversation eventuated then you would probably be a little bit shocked. At the moment it’s a little bit hype of in the media.

“It can be unsettling, but it’s not unsettling until something eventuates from it.

“If I was to get spoken to by either our CEO or coach about it then it could become a problem, but at the moment no one has spoken about it.”

Mbye said he had not needed to address the speculation with coach Des Hasler. Instead he is focused on resuming his role of playing halfback before switching to hooker.

“I’ll start this week at halfback and it’s important for me to do my role as a half and then once it’s time for me to move spots or have a breather then you worry about that then,” Mbye said. “I think it’s important to make sure you’re in the game.

“When I was at home as a junior I played fullback. Once I came down to the Bulldogs I played all my juniors as nine and once I went to 20s I went to seven and nine. I transitioned back to NSW Cup at nine and then to first grade.”
