THE Canterbury Bulldogs have an extra incentive to keep coach Des Hasler at Belmore next year — he could deliver Kieran Foran to the club.
The door has been thrown open for Foran following the Bulldogs’ decision to advise their current five-eighth Josh Reynolds that he can explore other opportunities for 2018 as his asking price of $800,000 is too much.
BULLDOGS COME UP TRUMPS FOR DES
Foran is expected to make his long-awaited comeback for the New Zealand Warriors against St George Illawarra at Kogarah next Sunday.
The Warriors are about to sign Kiwi Test half Shaun Johnson on a new multi-million dollar deal which raises questions about their ability to keep Foran in Auckland because of salary cap pressure.
Foran, understandably, wants to play some football before even thinking about next year.
If his shoulder injury stands up to the weekly demands of NRL he will quickly become one of the most sort after players in the game.
WHAT’S THE BUZZ II: Saint, Sinner, Shoosh
It’s common knowledge he is extremely close to Hasler from their days together at the Manly Sea Eagles. He would also like to be closer to his children.
Hasler has kept in regular contact with Foran over the past 12 months.
It’s been more about his wellbeing than football but they have discussed their futures.
