Bulldogs rookie Kerrod Holland in one of the most confident NRL post-match interviews ever

MEET Kerrod Holland, the Bulldogs rookie who coolly kicked the winning points after the siren against the Panthers last night. His post-match interview was confident bordering on arrogant. And it was priceless.

KERROD Holland was cool. He was calm. He was collected. And he was confident bordering on arrogant.

All the traits of a rugby league superstar with 10 seasons under his belt, right? Wrong.

The Bulldogs’ youngster — playing on debut no less — had just kicked his team to victory over the Panthers last night following a last-gasp Moses Mbye try when he came up with this brilliant post-match interview.

Speaking to Channel Nine’s Brad Fittler just seconds after kicking the winning points, Holland looked cool as a cucumber.

“I knew it (the kick) was going over. Knew straight away, it was always going over. All the hard work I put in, I knew it was going over,” Holland said.

“I knew we had it won, as soon as it went over, all the confidence in the world. Outstanding mate, outstanding on debut. We’re out here at Penrith, the Bulldogs crowd, they just bring you home.”

And it appears Holland’s actions backed up his words. Replays of the matchwinning kick showed the 23-year-old turned to celebrate with teammates the moment the ball left his boot. He didn’t even wait to see if the ball sailed through the posts.

Holland — or Dutchy as he is known around the dressing room — only arrived at Belmore this year after being part of Newcastle’s premiership-winning NSW Cup side last year.

Before that though, the Singleton Greyhounds junior was playing with the Goannas before being drafted into the Knights NSW Cup squad.

Bulldogs coach Des Hasler and skipper James Graham were full of praise for Holland as well.

“It’s a debut which dreams are made of,” Hasler said. “This one will be particularly memorable for him. He was steady tonight and came up with the big plays when he had to.”

“What a debut for him,” Graham added. “I had all the belief in the world in him to slot it over. I think it meant a lot to him. Very proud of him.”
