Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson has been airlifted to hospital when injured after a gas explosion.
The drama unfolded on Monday night in the NSW Hunter Valley.
Robinson’s wife, Sandra, was also rushed to hospital after the explosion.
The pair were injured when visiting the property for former Easts player and NSWRL chief executive, John Quayle.
It is understood a barbecue gas bottle exploded with Robinson and his wife suffering burns to their arms.
Robinson and Sandra were cooking dinner on Monday night.
The Westpac Rescue helicopter and ambulances attended the scene.
Nine News claimed Robinson and Sandra were doused in cold water after the accident.
It is understood the critical care medical team airlifted the couple to John Hunter Hospital, New Lambton.
Robinson was kept in hospital for several nights, Sandra remained under medical supervision for one evening.
After a gas incident, doctors monitored the lungs of Robinson and Sandra.
Quayle and his family were not injured.
Robinson and Sandra have been discharged and are recovering at their eastern suburbs home.
The pair were well enough to drive back from Newcastle to Sydney together.
Robinson’s medical attention was deemed precautionary.
It is understood there was a flash from the barbecue and the coach’s arm was burned.
