NRL SuperCoach: Winners and Losers - Round 26

WELL this is the last chance saloon folks. The Perfect 8 jackpot has hit $120,000 and you have one final opportunity to strike it rich.

With the vast majority of players sitting on the sidelines while the 11,998 league Grand Finals take place this week and the overall race all but decided barring a catastrophic collapse the best way to give yourself an interest — and a shot at a life-changing $120,000 — is to play Perfect 9.

The good news is that it’s quick and easy to enter.

Here’s the line-up you needed to claim Perfect 8 last week.

Round 25 was very tough to pick with multiple wildcards like Solomone Kata popping up.
Round 25 was very tough to pick with multiple wildcards like Solomone Kata popping up.

Here is a rundown on how easy it is to sign up! I mean, think of what you could do with all that cash …

On to trying to win the massive $120k this week …

Round 26

Broncos v Roosters, Thursday 7.50pm, Suncorp Stadium

Anthony Milford 5/8 (Broncos)

The Broncos are coming home with a wet sail after wins against the Eels, Bulldogs and Storm the past three weeks. One man that has been at the centre of all things sensational over that period is Anthony Milford with a three-round average of 75.7ppg. The man with the most SuperCoach upside we’ve seen in years scored a mere 26 points against the Roosters in round 21, but I wouldn’t back on that happening again. Seven scores above 90 this season tells me there’s a good chance Milf is the man!

Other options: Ryan Matterson, Mitch Pearce, Corey Parker, Corey Oates, Matt Gillett.

Bulldogs v Rabbitohs, Friday 7.50pm, ANZ Stadium

Sam Burgess FRF | 2RF (Rabbitohs)

Big Sam was my SuperCoach skipper last week against the Knights and he delivered a 100+ score with a try. This week I expect a big performance again up against his English mate James Graham — one of the more heated clashes of the past few seasons. Burgess has a five-round average of 78.6ppg, and listen to this … a career average of 89.1ppg against the Bulldogs in seven career meetings! Wowee.

Other options: Cody Walker, Adam Reynolds, Greg Inglis, Brett Morris, Moses Mbye.

Dragons v Knights, Saturday 3pm, UOW Jubilee Oval

Josh Dugan FLB | CTW (Dragons)

Dugan was one of the top options to replace James Tedesco in our normal SuperCoach sides a couple of weeks back, scoring 84 points on the weekend against the Eels. Now he takes on huge significance in the Perfect 8 format against the Knights conceding ridiculous amounts of points to outside backs all season long. Last week against the Knights, Rabbitohs stars Greg Inglis notched 108 points, Adam Reynolds 86 points, Cody Walker 83 points, Aaron Gray 74 points, Alex Johnston 72 points … Yeah, I think you get my point.

Other options: Gareth Widdop, Kurt Mann, Taane Milne, Jason Nightingale, Mitch Barnett.

Cowboys v Titans, Saturday 5.30pm, 1300 SMILES Stadium

Jarryd Hayne CTW | FLB (Titans)

In what is a MUST win contest for the Titans to make the top eight, I think the man they paid the big bucks will come to the fore. Last week Hayne played his first match at fullback for the Titans, scoring 58 points (14 tackle busts might I add!) and getting used to combinations in the process, this week I think we see some of the star potential this man possesses. Away against the Cowboys with it all on the line, it’s just written in the script …

Other options: Johnathan Thurston, Michael Morgan, Ethan Lowe, Ryan James.

Storm v Sharks, Saturday 7.30pm, AAMI Stadium

Cameron Smith HOK (Storm)

It’s not often you see the Storm smashed at home like the Broncos did to them in the first 60 minutes of play last time out (Smith still scored 107 points mind you). This week I think we see a much better performance out of the gate against the Sharks who are also premiership contenders, with Smith at the forefront of the scoring. The best hooker in the game averages 78.18ppg and is now the runaway leader atop the overall pointscorer’s list for this season.

Other options: Andrew Fifita, Paul Gallen, Cameron Munster, Tohu Harris, Marika Koroibete.

Tigers v Raiders, Sunday 2pm, Leichhardt Oval

David Nofoaluma CTW (Tigers)

The Tigers were at long odds to win away from home and without James Tedesco last week, but they delivered and now face a must-win game against an impressive Raiders outfit on home soil at Leichhardt. Step forward Nofoaluma who was a feature of the Stat Attack article last week, sneakily priced at $452,400 with a season average of 61.4ppg and, most relevantly, 78.2ppg over his past five matches. Projected by SuperCoach Gold to score 84 points this week, along with the prospect of Ricky Stuart resting some of his Raiders stars, I love him as a left field option.

Other options: Mitchell Moses, Aaron Woods, BJ Leilua, Jordan Rapana, Josh Papalii.

Warriors v Eels, Sunday 4pm at Mt Smart Stadium

Shaun Johnson HFB (Warriors)

SJ is just simply far too good to keep down for more than one week these days. Yes, 30 points last week was disappointing, but he will want to bounce back at Mt. Smart (a ground where he averages 67.4ppg over 51 career matches) in the Warriors’ last game of the season. The Eels have been astonishingly good amid a sea of adversity this year, so don’t count them out, but I just think SJ is too tough to handle. Lock him in!

Other options: Simon Mannering, Bodene Thompson, Semi Radradra, Clint Gutherson.

Panthers v Sea Eagles, Sunday 6.30pm, Pepper Stadium

Bryce Cartwright 5/8 | 2RF (Panthers)

#CartyParty is still one of the hottest tickets in town out Penrith way, averaging 73ppg this season, and this week is no different. Earlier this year Carty notched 77 points, including a try assist, against the Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval and with two 100+ scores in his past four matches I’m going all in on another this week at home!

Other options: Tom Trbojevic, Jake Trbojevic, Nathan Cleary, Trent Merrin, Josh Mansour.

Good luck! Will this be the week where someone takes home a huge wad of cash? Let’s hope so.
