Meet the seven-year-old SuperCoach genius.
Sebastian Rennie loves rugby league and is a maths whiz — a winning combination that has propelled him into the top two per cent of 140,000 SuperCoaches.
And his secret to success is simple. “I just know my numbers really well”.
Which is an understatement.
The youngster has an uncanny ability to recall NRL facts and figures. So we put him to the test at his Baulkham Hills home.
True to his word, Sebastian reels off the height, weight and debut date of Cowboys forward Jason Taumalolo.

That was probably an easy one (for him) given Taumalolo is one of the most recognised players in the NRL and also Sebastian’s favourite player “because he bashes people”.
So we reach further into his footy card collection and go more obscure with Titans forward Kevin Proctor.
Nails it.
Surely he can’t do the same with New Zealand forward Isaiah Papali’i, a player with less than 40 games and essentially unknown this side of the ditch?
Nails it.
What about Dragons rookie Zac Lomax, with just 13 games?
Nails it.
Sebastian’s dad says his son, a North Queensland fan, can remember which team the Cowboys played in each round this year, and the score.
So we ask about Round 2 and he responds immediately with “Broncos, 29-10”.
Nails it.
“He started playing SuperCoach about two years ago,” father Kane explains.
“I’d been playing and was sick of him changing my team and looking at it all the time.
“So after a few rounds we created his own team and he’s been going ever since then.”
Sebastian spends two hours a day on SuperCoach and has achieved his lofty ranking despite not being allowed to stay up and watch games.
Dad says he has almost no input in his son’s side.
“Very minimal. I look at my team, we listen to the podcasts and look at the news,” he said.
“But he does all his own trades.”
And even when dad reckons his son has got it wrong, he generally gets it right.
“A few weeks ago he was looking at getting Damien Cook (top SuperCoach scorer this year). But he decided to get (notoriously inconsistent) Mitchell Moses instead.
“I was going ‘Sebastian, what are you doing?’
“But the last few weeks Moses has killed it and Sebby has scored 1200 every week and moved up the rankings.”
Nailed it.
