KALYN Ponga went into the weekend as the highest scoring player in SuperCoach this year.

Owned by almost half of SuperCoaches.

He was coming off a stunning Origin debut in which he almost stole victory from NSW.

He was the second most popular captain.

Then disaster struck.

Ponga lasted just 14 minutes against the Bulldogs before succumbing to a hamstring injury, which has ruled him out for 3-4 weeks.

In the words of SuperCoach nut Brendan Pfitzner: “I sold Teddy and brang in Ponga wasting a much needed trade.

“I had the captaincy on Cook and switched it to Ponga as my nullify head to head opponent.

“I lost 286 points in the process and should’ve been ranked 1631 with a shot of making top 1000 over the next bye round.

“Ponga owes me a fricking key ring and an apology if I don’t make top 1000 this season.”

Despite the hard luck stories, we continue to splash cash left, right and centre in SuperCoach NRL — presented by hipages.

Now 16 rounds into the season and we’ve already given away over $44,000 of a potential prize pool totalling almost $500,000.

This round’s weekly winner, Jarrod Troiano, coach of Jazzasbroncos, is $1000 richer after scoring a massive 1350.

In terms of Perfect 8, this round’s weekly winner picked up $1,000.

Matthew Neilson, coach of Peasants_United, picked just 4/8 correct top players from each game.

The $300,000 jackpot didn’t go off and the major prize now jackpots to $305,000 for round 18 (note: there is no Perfect 8 in round 17 due to the bye). The jackpot could reach a massive $340,000 if not won by the end of the year.

Perfect 8 is FREE and, quite frankly, if you are already playing Supercoach NRL, you simply must enter.

It takes no time at all to select your eight players from all eight matches of the round and it is the perfect partner for SuperCoach Classic.

If you are you a commitment-phobe or don’t have the patience for a full SuperCoach season, then Perfect 8 is the best option for you.

Perfect 8 is just like bingo for NRL — all you have to do is select the top SuperCoach NRL points-scorer in each of the eight matches in the round to collect the cash.

If no-one lands 8/8, the prize jackpots by $5000 (except bye rounds) and the weekly winner is awarded $1,000 every round.
