SuperCoach NRL: Six things we learned from Dragons vs Titans, Broncos vs Roosters

He was the ‘Cheapie of the Year’ served up on a silver platter for SuperCoaches everywhere, and he delivered in a big way. See who starred as we look back at the six things learned from Friday Night Footy.

Dragons pull off demolition on Titans

We’re three games down in round six with a thoroughly entertaining Friday night in the books.

It started with the Dragons and an explosive burst of attack that saw them blow away the Titans.

Who could forget the incredible try celebration from Christian Tuipulotu. The money man is back in a big way.

Then the Broncos and Roosters turned on a classic at Suncorp. It had plenty of feeling, players in the sin bin and was a much better contest than the season opener.

Here are the six things we learned from Friday Night Footy:

LISTEN TO THE EXPERTS

All week the talk was how Dylan Egan was an absolute must to have in your side.

The young gun only went on to earn a starting spot, score a try and post a monster score of 103 points, second only to David Fifita in the game.

Close to 20,000 listened and brought him into their team. For those that didn’t – we’re not upset, we’re just disappointed.

FIFITA NEEDS TO START

David Fifita’s first start of the season resulted in an output of 111 points, courtesy of a pair of try assists.

In 74 minutes he ran for over 200m from 17 carries, missed just one tackle and clearly looked the Gold Coast’s most dangerous player when he had his hands on the ball.

No more of this bench nonsense Des, keep him in the starting 13.

RETURN OF THE VAL

We know that Valentine Holmes can go nuclear in SuperCoach, and he is inching closer to his first ton in Dragons colours.

A strong effort saw him post 96 (which could rise after updates), his best score for the season by a fair way.

His price has dropped over $80k from round one. A gun CTW is worth splurging around $700k on.

TIME TO SAY GOODBYE

While Dylan Egan was an obvious buy, some of the cheapies to start the season are headed towards the departure lounge.

Gehamat Shibasaki (50), Robert Toia (35) and Jack Gosiewksi (40) were three of the most popular cheapies in the game prior to round one.

But serious consideration has to be given to cashing in and upgrading to other prospects.

HUNT GOOD, BUT NOT THE ONE YOU THOUGHT

One thing is for certain, Jaiyden Hunt will be selected in a lot more than 857 SC teams next week.

Given the start, Hunt played 72 minutes and top-scored for the Broncos with 81 points. That’s on the back of 22 points from 28 minutes last week.

He was one of Brisbane’s most potent attacking weapons tonight and he put forward a good case to hold a spot in the 13.

REYNOLDS ROLLERCOASTER CONTINUES

They say there are horses that are hard to catch.

But spare a thought for those who are trying to land Adam Reynolds at the right time.

He continued his trend of not increasing his score in consecutive weeks with just 27 for the night.

His halves partner Ben Hunt wasn’t any better, scoring just 22 as his SC struggles continue.
