NRL Late Mail round 9: Adam Reynolds cleared to play for Broncos

Broncos fans can rest easy after Adam Reynolds got through the captain’s run. See all the latest team changes for Magic Round.

Brisbane coach Michael Maguire has declared injured halfback Adam Reynolds a certain starter as he warned the Broncos not to suffer another big-game ambush against the Panthers on Sunday.

Champion skipper Reynolds has been cleared of a shoulder problem to line up against Penrith maestro Nathan Cleary in a 2023 grand-final rematch in Magic Round at Suncorp Stadium.

Reynolds reported pins and needles after injuring his shoulder in last week’s 42-18 rout of the Bulldogs, leaving the captain racing the clock for a showdown with Brisbane’s grand-final nemesis.

But Reynolds, who carved up Canterbury, ran strongly at Brisbane’s captain’s run on Saturday and got the green light from medicos to fight fire with fire against the NRL’s No.1 halfback Cleary.

“There’s been a lot spoken about Reyno, but he is fine,” Maguire said after Brisbane completed their final hit out at Red Hill.

“He has trained every day this week so I’m looking forward to having ‘Reyno’ out there and working off the back of his last game.

“His shoulder just got jammed up.

“It happens week in, week out with everyone but he has done every session, so he is good to go.”
